Another band that I think has been really underrated is the Steve Morse line-up of Deep Purple.
Purpendicular is a great album that holds up very well against any album that they've done, and Abandon and Bananas are both very, very strong.
Morse is a better player than Blackmore, IMO, and his jazzy style really fits where the band has wanted to go over the last 15 years.
Check this stuff out...
There's a lot of different types of stuff on Purpendicular - some really nice jazzy stuff, some almost Police-like stuff, and some great straight ahead Hard Rock. I love what the band has done with Morse in the line-up.

Agree with everything above.
Go get Bananas.
This is my second favorite lineup behind the original with Rod Evans. Coverdale era not bad either.
