This is a seqel that has been in the works for over 10 years. They did some test footage a couple of years ago that got Disney to greenlight the project. The movie will be out in December. The trailer certainly looks good.
The original TRON was the first movie to make heavy use of CGI. It was a groundbreaking movie. Sure, the script was of merely average quality, but the way the film was shot and the then new CGI effects elevated the movie to a higher level. And it was just plain fun.
I hope the new one lives up to the legacy of the original.
