Kim Mitchell came to fame with his band Max Webster in the 70's and early 80's. The band were fairly successful in their native Canada and had a cult following in the U.S. during that time.
In 1982 Kim went solo and released a 5 song E.P. that won praise from critics and fans. He followed that up with his most successful U.S. release to date in Akimbo Alogo, which featured his one (quirky, mildly humorous) U.S. hit, "Go For Soda."
Here's the video for, "Go For Soda." It's definitely a product of the times (1984), but it's also kind of clever and fairly funny (and the song is really good)...
He has continued to make albums on and off ever since, with his most recent being Aint' Life Amazing, which is a classy Strat filled album of melodic but slightly gritty Rock and Roll. It's a mature album that's filled with great songs - It's not a Metal album at all, and most of the songs barely qualify as Hard Rock, but it isn't wimpy. There's some really good stuff to be found on here, including this track...
Kim's definitely an underappreciated talent.
