Good news for anyone who remembers Assassin - San Diego's best Heavy Metal band from the early to mid 80's. Those guys were fantastic and had a large local following. They put out a 7" vinyl single in 1984 ("Treason," and, "All Your Love"), and got a lot of airplay on 101.5 KGB's Metal Shop program. Sadly, on the verge of getting a record deal the band started losing members, then fell apart. They did, however, record enough songs to make up a short album, and those recordings, along with some live recordings make up the long, long overdue CD release of what amounts to their debut album! Deep Shag Records is releasing this CD on October 6th (the same day as the new KISS CD, interestingly enough). Fans of 1980's straightforward Heavy Metal should check this CD out - their music really is good. The band sounded like a cross between Dio-era Black Sabbath and Dokken. I'll have a full review up as soon as I get the actual CD in hand (I've still got the single, and heard a couple of their other songs on the radio back then.)
