We all know them. We all have bands that we love that, "Should have been huge!" Or at the very least they should have been more successful than they were. And it's true - record companies and management people have a tendency to accidentally or even intentionally do things that hold bands down. Just getting a major label contract back in the day didn't mean automatic success. It didn't even mean making much more than you could make working at a record store! You had to have the right A&R people behind you, and a record company that gave you the support you needed to make things happen. That happened less often than it didn't.
So we're going to do a series about bands that should have been more successful than they were, based on the quality and accessibility of their music. And the first episode in this series focuses on Y&T!
